Known as a unique Mediterranean City and the pearl of Mediterranean, there is no doubt as to why Piran has been one of the popular cities in Slovenia despite of its small geographical size. One of the reasons why people prefer visiting this lovely place is due to its outstanding geographical diversity. Due to its stunning beauty, nobody would even think that it is one of the oldest cities in Slovenia.
Portorož (Italian: Portorose, literally "Port of Roses"), is an Adriatic - Mediterranean coastal settlement in the Municipality of Piran in southwestern Slovenia. Its modern development began in the late 19th century with appearance of first health resorts. In the early 20th century it became one of the grandest seaside resorts in Europe, along with Abbazia, Lido and Grado, then as part of the Austrian Littoral. It is now one of the country's major tourist areas.Located in the centre is the Hotel Palace, once one of the most important resorts for the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, and currently one of the finest hotels between Venice and Dubrovnik.
